In recent times, three Bollywood superstars have been let down by their choice of movies. Shahid Kapoor's PhataPoster Nikhla Hero collected 19.30 crore in three days and tanked.

Ranbir Kapoor's Besharam did a business of 44.25 crore in five days, which was way below the mark. And now, Akshay Kumar's Boss is the third big film that has had a tepid run at the ticket windows, with a collection of 38.23 crore (NBOC) in five days in the local market and around 11 crore (GBOC), over the extended weekend, from the overseas market. The film collected 11.87 crore (NBOC) on day one.

However, the trade doesn't seem to think it will add up to anything spectacular in the coming period. A leading distributor says, "The pre-Diwali period is usually very dull. With three big releases not grabbing the required number of eyeballs, the mood is bleak." And, to make matters worse, there is heavy traffic in cinema halls with as many as eight releases lined up on October 25.

The six Bollywood ones are Mickey Virus, Ishk Actually, Satya 2, Wake Up India, Sooper Se Ooper and Dilli Gang. And the two foreign releases this week are The Fifth Estate and Amour.

This week's Friday release Shahid got critical acclaim and managed to earn around 1 crore in three days.
